[ANI] Mars Division was a fleet from the Robotech Expeditionary Force that was the spearhead of a massive operation to retake Earth from the Invid (e61.03:04). It was dispatched by Admiral Rick Hunter and its mission was to "appraise the situation [on Earth] and to test the strength" (e62.00:38) of the Invid threat there. Soon after its arrival into Earth-space, the Mars Division fleet was attacked and utterly decimated by waves of countless Invid mecha. Scott Bernard was a pilot in the 21st Combat Squadron of Mars Division and was one of the "few" (e62.00:45) of the division who survived the initial attack. -Macross
