[ANI] The Lost City was the first city Scott visited after his crash-landing on Earth. It is comprised of two islands that sit in the center of a large lake. The main island is linked to the shore by a single bridge, and the smaller, second island is linked to the main island, also by a single bridge (e62.01:03). Large decaying skyscrapers rest on the islands, and their beaten, broken forms tell the destructive tales of the warfare they and their inhabitants have been scarred by.

Upon entering the city, Scott and Rand "stare in awe at the devastation that surrounds them" (e62.06:09). The lake around the are littered with "downed space cruisers, broken Bioroids, and the scorched hulks of Zentraedi Battlepods" (e62:06:12) and the streets are "lined with rubble and debris" (e62.06:20), all left over from the Second Robotech War (e62.06:22).

The Lost City is governed by "town elders" (e62.07:39) who make the rules and decisions for the city. The fears and paranoia of the city's inhabitants resulted in a rule that required the eventual banishment of all "outsiders" (e62.01:46). Another rule, undoubtedly conceived in fear and the basic human desire to survive the Invid occupation, required them to sacrifice any resistance fighters that entered the city in order to save themselves (e62.15:15). Scott and Rand were no exception, and as soon as they arrived (e62.05:28), they were directed to the smaller, isolated island where Invid troopers were waiting to spring their trap.

Scott, Rand and Annie survived the ambush and returned to the main island to be met by an angry mob that demanded they leave the city immediately. All the weary people of the city wanted to do was "live in peace, even if it [meant] doing without freedom (e62.15:56). They felt the presence of soldiers would only "aggravate the whole situation" (e62.15:50), and so Scott, Rand and Annie left the city in a could of dust, leaving the Lost City behind. -Macross
